I went to see an old favorite in Seattle last night, Neurosis. Still a great fucking band but I just can't appreciate them the way I did years ago in the Through Silver In Blood days. Seeing them at that time was like a religious experience. I hate to say things like "back in my day" and "they used to be better back in the day" but that's how I feel. I still love them and have utmost respect for what they do. But they did bust out a few oldies which was nice.
Converge played before them. I'd never seen Converge although I was into their music for a while in the mid-late 90's. When Forever Comes Crashing and Petitioning The Empty Sky. Jane Doe is pretty good too, though not as great as everyone seems to think it is. Anyway, they were pretty devastating and high energy live. Tough act to follow but a little on the serious side in terms of rhetoric from Jake Bannon. But he's just being sincere and those kids hiding in their hoodies drink it up like a milkshake.
Thanks to the lads in Akimbo for getting me inside. Even though I didn't see them off the stage!
